An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and enthusiastic mental health clinician to join the multi-disciplinary team of the Northern Beaches Child and Youth Mental Health Service.

NB CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary community mental health service providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties through a range of individual, family based and group therapy programs.

Where you'll be working

The Northern Beaches Child & Youth Mental Health Service (NB CYMHS) Clinician role is primarily based at Brookvale Community Health Centre.

NB CYMHS also provide clinical services through the Mona Vale and Dalwood community health centre sites.


What you'll be doing


The Child & Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) community service provides a comprehensive range of assessment and clinical interventions for infants, children and adolescents affected by moderate to severe or complex mental health problems, or who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioural problems.

Working with the multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other service providers, the CYMHS clinician will provide mental health assessment and therapy for children and adolescents with severe and complex mental health problems and their families.

This involves evidence-based assessment and treatment incorporating individual, family, parenting and group therapy interventions.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing and registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW for Social Workers. Clinical Psychologists must have a minimum postgraduate Masters or higher in Clinical Psychology. For Social Work, experience as a Level 2 clinician. Occupational Therapist must have experience as a Level 2 clinician. Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 must have relevant postregistration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified postgraduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Relevant clinical mental health experience in a community setting which includes working with children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive training/qualifications and experience in providing treatment for children and adolescents affected by mental health problems, their families/carers and broader system of care through evidencedbased individual, group and parentfocused therapies such as CBT, DBT, attachmentbased therapies and family therapy.
