We currently have two opportunities available for experienced Engineering Managers to join project's currently in development. It's not often you are able to see a project through from development to completion.

Package removing 8 level crossings, replaced by railoverroad solution and a number of newbuild stations in Melbourne's inner north
Package removing 1 level crossing, replaced by railoverroad solution and 1 newbuild station in Melbourne's southeast

About the Role:

Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.

As an Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering services to site management and control.

With support from your direct reports, you will coordinate the preparation of engineering estimates for submissions of tenders, including recommendation on engineering design aspects.

Joining strong teams with proven success having previously delivered major level crossing packages on Mernda and Upfield lines, you will help to resolve technical and project delivery challenges in this urban environment.

Responsibilities of the role include;:

Provide engineering services to site management during the currency of contracts
Oversee the preparation of estimates, submission of tenders and recommendations regarding construction techniques, engineering procedures and the utilisation of new technology
Ensure effective provision of engineering services to project management during the currency of contracts mainly through directing the efforts of Senior Project Engineers, Project Engineers, Design Engineers and Estimators
Examine project modification claims where requested and advise on related engineering matters
Coordinate the activities of outside engineering consultants
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of major structures and construction work
Ensure legislative, precontract and commercial obligations are met, including compliance with the relevant Building Code
Demonstrate people management by assisting with resourcing to ensure projects have the capability to achieve targets, manage and coach engineers and foster a high performance working environment
Exhibit outstanding leadership in health, safety, environmental and risk management, compliance and auditing
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

To be successful in this role, you will have;:

Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent degree
Diploma or Master's of Project Management in Engineering Science, Building, Construction or equivalent
More than 5 years' experience in an Engineering Manager, Design Manager or equivalent role, on a major Rail or Infrastructure project
Management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams
Contemporary practices in design and construction methodology
Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
Advanced financial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets
Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk management
Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management
Management of up to $100m projects
Experience in Construct Only, Design & Construct, Managing Contract, Alliance, Joint Ventures, Alliances & PPP Contracts types
