We currently have a fantastic fixed term opportunity (until March 2024) for a Macro Space Optimisation Manager to join our Macro Space team.


As a Macro Space Optimisation Manager, your main responsibility will be to envision, design, build and embed Space Optimisation capabilities that enable Woolworths to deliver a product range and offering that is tailored to Australian communities,drives competitive advantage and market-leading financial performance.


This hybrid role offers flexible work arrangements with a balance of working from our Bella Vista based office and from home.

**About the Opportunity

Reporting to Head of Macrospace and Format Innovation, this role will see you work hands-on and lead our effort on how to best use space within Woolworths; you'll work on developing long-terM/Future solutions and optimising near-term/current capabilities.

You will work closely with the Commercial, Operations, Planning, and Analyst teams and ultimately provide front-line analysis to help them learn about what is possible through the better use of space and improved customer flows & produce adjacencies

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop our team of (3+) experienced macro space data analysts
  • Practising product ownership across the suite of space optimisation tools and capabilities
  • Being handson and directly involved in creating analytics work programs, executing on it and distilling insights
  • Developing and implementing datadriven strategies and roadmaps in driving change and innovation, working with stakeholders and third party partners
  • Review and implement Macro Space optimisation tools, models, process and related capabilities, develop concepts and designs to close gaps
  • Conduct deep dives on prioritised topics to help stakeholders learn what is possible through better use of space and improved customer flows and produce adjacencies.


In this role, you will have an opportunity to position yourself as a strategic thought leader, demonstrate your influencing skills and ability to interact with senior stakeholders, and demonstrate your ability to work cross functionally to influence resources to support the delivery of the roadmap.

**With a focus on business results and creating value, you will bring program management experience to deliver multi
- million strategy & analytics projects, preferably from a leading retailer, and/or management consulting firm, or a large commercial organisation.


You have a resilient and ambitious personality with the ability to genuinely listen to your key stakeholders, think strategically as well as identify and solve root-cause problems.

Stakeholder engagement holds no secrets for you You are an effective communicator who can liaise and empathise with all types of stakeholders.


You are a strong collaborator with an agile and growth mindset who is looking to take on a new challenge that requires expertise in driving and delivering results and the ability to negotiate and influence cross-functional stakeholders.


Key skills, attributes and desirable experience includes:

  • Strong leadership capability & communication skills with an ability to convey concepts to technical and non
- technical people in a clear and unambiguous manner - presentation & engagement skills

  • Customercentric project leadership experience and demonstrable interest in consistently meeting stakeholder's needs
  • Management/leadership of multidisciplinary teams (ideally, with a Program Management focus), developing careers, and building top talent in a large corporate environment
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships and engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to coach, motivate and develop a team of data analysts
  • Selfstarter who can demonstrate initiative and ability to manage own time and workload
