As part of the Parks Services Team, you are responsible for supervising internal work teams and external contractors, ensuring a proactive, high quality and cost effective maintenance services is delivered that meets the City's standards.

Using your leadership skills, you will direct subordinate staff to ensure performance targets are met, providing clear instruction on agreed levels of service.

Your well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to innovate, will enable you to ensure employees are performing at the required standards and you will support ongoing improvement of the team, participating in employee performance and professional development reviews.

You will promote working within a safe environment and will identify opportunities for continuous improvement.


Your experience of budgeting will enable you to review the annual budget information and prepare quantities and cost estimates for budget items.

You will also liaise with the Coordinator in the management of contract documentation, including tenders and quotes and maintenance of on-going contracts.

Your experience in tree management will allow you to review and develop Safe Work Method Statements and assist in the development of policies and procedures, as well as contributing to reports for Council consideration.


You are a self-motivated go-getter who is able to provide expert advice and strategic direction to the organisation and are comfortable communicating across all levels of the organisation and the community it serves with a qualification in Tree Management and possess a current valid 'C' class WA Driver's licence.


  • Advanced knowledge of tree management / arboriculture principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation and implementation of cyclical maintenance schedules
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Welldeveloped time management and organisational skills
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy skills
  • Welldeveloped knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and practices
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in the supervision of operational tree maintenance requirements including day labour hire and contractors
  • Extensive experience in facilitation, consultation and negotiation to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience in human resource management inclusive of performance management of employees
  • Certificate IV in Arboriculture / Horticulture or relevant level qualifications
We are offering a gross salary of $88,929 per annum and:

  • 11% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
