The Company

You will be joining a diverse organisation that has over 60 years of operations in the commercial fishing, seafood production and distribution industries, providing employment to over 200 staff across Australia.

Their products can be found in many Australian supermarkets, local retail outlets and international markets.


The Position


As the People and Culture Business Partner, you will work closely with leaders in delivering people focussed solutions, whilst driving a safe and inclusive culture across their operations nationally.

Based at their primary seafood processing facility and Head office in Brisbane, you be an important part of the operations team driving the continued success of the business.

Some of your key responsibilities include;

  • Be a valued support to all staff from the processing floor to the leadership team.
  • Coach and provide hands on guidance to management in HR issues, and where required participate directly in managing key HR issues.
  • Develop and implement business HR strategy, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and drive a proactive and efficient recruitment and onboarding process, working with management to ensure casual and permanent staffing levels are maintained.
  • Management of the recruitment process for the valued workforce, and where applicable, ensuring they are compliant with immigration policies.
  • Liaising closely with the HSE Lead to implement best practice safety standards across the business.
  • Initiate and organise education programs for all relevant members of staff in the areas of work, health and safety, fire prevention and workers compensation.
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders on performance management and disciplinary matters, award interpretation, company policies and legal obligations.
  • Manage and advise leadership on remuneration and reward matters in the business.

The Person
The qualities our client is looking for in this key position are;

  • A relationship builder. This role, with a familyowned company in the food production sector truly does require a person that loves daily interaction with the team. You will show your skills as a people and culture manager through your actions, not just your job title.
  • The role requires a level of experience befitting the diverse nature of the business however we will consider an HR professional who is looking for that opportunity to take charge of their own department for the first time.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or Commerce are required.
  • Experience with blue collar workplaces and the award interpretation skills that come with such an environment.
  • Food processing/production exposure would be highly regarded.
  • A driver's licence is required as there will be interstate travel required as part of your responsibilities.
