The role of the Music Ministry Member is to bring their musical skill to play selected tunes as directed Music Ministry Leader.

In worship services, Music Ministry Members hold an important role in setting the mood and enhancing the service's message, preparing congregants for the experience, whilst performing for the public brings awareness to the local corps and services.


  • Key responsibilities

Practise:

  • To ensure a confident and proficient performance, all Music Ministry Members are expected to attend practise sessions as well as practise in their own time
  • Attendance:
  • Music Ministry Members are expected to be reliable by attending rehearsals and performances as agreed, and to constructively contribute to postperformance reviews
  • Performance:
  • Music Ministry Members must present a positive image to corps attendees and community members by ensuring they are wellprepared, wellpresented and are following agreed performance outline.
Qualifications and skills (desired/required)- Must be able to competently play selected tunes Willing to occasionally perform in public Must have commitment to the Christian faithCapabilities and personal attributes

  • Communicate Effectively: Listens to others when they are speaking and asks appropriate, respectful questions; speaks at the right pace and volume for varied audiences; clarifies own understanding.
  • Lead Safety and Wellbeing: Identifies and follows safe work practices; takes action to address hazards, near misses and incidents.
Background check requirements

  • Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies.

Below is what is required for this role:


As this role is potentially a child-related role, it requires a Working with Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People Check- The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm.

All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. _Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a National Police Check._
