About the role
We are seeking an experienced and driven professional to take on the role of Operations Interface Manager.

In this role, you will support the vision, strategy and planning for operational readiness across Passenger Delivery and be accountable the successful integration of Rolling Stock projects (Xtrap 2.0 and associated activities) into the MTM network with a specific focus on Operational Readiness and Change Management.


Other responsibilities will include:


Review and input in the design and delivery process, managing internal and external stakeholders ensuring MTMs operational business needs are met.

Work with Operations, Passenger Delivery and Project representatives to constructively problem solve to root cause when there are misalignment or issues during project lifecycle from development through to delivery.

Support development and implementation of Operational Readiness plans for projects, identifying all changes being introduced by the projects and ensure the workforce is informed and prepared for change.

Coordinate operational readiness capability across Metro and lead the interface with Projects to ensure assets and services enter into service are as per the design and program.

Work with Change and Engagement lead to deliver excellence in change management practices and building front line capability and acceptance to enable project delivery and operation of new rolling stock and business acceptance of new assets.

Coordinate Passenger Delivery engagement and input into new assets.
Support Schedule 3 submissions with Commercial function as they relate to the timetables and projects.

Participate in meetings with the Department of Transport and Planning/Rail Projects Victoria and others when directed, fostering effective stakeholder relationships.

Plan, organise, direct and monitor operational impacts of assigned projects to ensure mínimal disruption on train operations whilst ensuring that construction standards are maintained and conform to applicable safety, reliability and quality standards.

Ensure MTM's Operational requirements are maintained throughout the projects lifecycle.
Brief key stakeholders within MTM on project status (e.g. Progress/ Risks/ Issues) in a timely manner.


The Operations Interface Manager will be supporting a culture of excellence in passenger satisfaction and deliver a safe, passenger focused and efficient train service in accordance with operational and legislative requirements.

About You

You will be a highly effective communicator ((both written and verbal) with proven experience in rail operations including integration of large rail projects into an existing rail operation and/or a similar background.


In addition, you will possess:
Train Driver qualifications or equivalent Train Driver experience (highly regarded)

Ability to review/understand technical rolling stock design information and clearly articulate impacts for Operations and Passenger Delivery to Department of Transport and Planning and/or manufacturer.

Solid understanding of rail infrastructure, track alignment, signalling and signal working Experience in the preparation of high-quality reports and position papers.

Comprehensive problem solving, negotiation and persuasion skills coupled with the ability and credibility to build trusting relationships to influence decisions
Experience at collecting, interpreting and presenting workplace data and information in a meaningful way to support decision making
Skilled at identifying customer and stakeholder needs and delivering solutions to meet these needs
Ability to manage conflicting priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to
