Description

The Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) is headed by the Parliamentary Counsel and is a Public Service executive agency related to the Department of Premier and Cabinet under the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.

The PCO provides a comprehensive and integrated range of high-quality services for the drafting of, and access to, NSW legislation and the giving of advice and information about legislation.


This role is for you if you
- enjoy providing high quality administrative services across a variety of areas, where managing competing deadlines and changing priorities is common,
- have attention to detail and a track record of delivering accurate and high-quality work, and
- can complete your own tasks independently but also work co-operatively with the rest of the team to assist in meeting peak workloads.


Key accountabilities

  • Provide a range of administrative and support services to meet the business needs of PCO, including senior executives.
  • Draft and prepare correspondence, agendas, minutes, presentations and briefing notes.
  • Assist the Director, Corporate Services in creating a cohesive culture via organisational capability development and performance management system.
  • Respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate and manage PCO staff records and databases, complying with administrative systems, processes and policies, to ensure that all information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible.
  • Develop, implement and monitor PCO office systems, procedures and methods, adapting processes and techniques as required, to facilitate efficient operations in line with PCO's standards, policies and procedures, gather and collate information for, and prepare documentation and reports on PCO's business unit performance, as well as make recommendations to improve efficiency, cost management and service delivery.
Please note that some after-hours work may be required, particularly around parliamentary sitting times. After-hours work is managed within the rostering, flexible working, or paid overtime arrangements applicable to the team.
