About the role

As Cyber Security Advisors you shall delivering cyber projects under the IRAP Strategy, providing technical cyber security advice, building industry partnerships, as well as supporting initiatives to uplift Australia's cyber workforce and resilience.

The Cyber Security Advisors will also be made available to provide cyber security support to other areas of the department.

The agency will provide funding for Cyber Security Advisors out of pressures funding to assist STAR with overall improvements to the program management design of IRAP as well as to deliver on the IRAP Strategy including the uplift of industry skills through quality training programs, including the Essential Eight Assessor Training Program.

The advisors will assist to develop the technical content and technical feedback into industry skilling initiatives growing the cyber workforce across Australia.

Skills and Experience:

Experience (2+ years) in the following:
Using the Essential Eight, the ACSC Strategies to Mitigate Cyber Security Incidents and the Australian Information Security Manual (ISM)
Performing Security Risk Assessments
Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes
Managing government programs
Designing and implementing training programs**:
Mandatory Criteria**:
Skills in one or more of the following:
Windows and/or Linux Security infrastructures
Network concepts
Cloud platforms, such as: Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Cyber security program management**:
Mandatory Criteria**:
Qualifications in the following:
Postgraduate computer science qualifications
Program management certifications (Prince 2, Agile Project Management, etc.)
Information Security Certifications (CISSP, CISM, SABSA or equivalent)
Information Security Audit and Assessment Certifications (ISO27001 Lead Auditor, CISA, IRAP or equivalent)
Desirable Criteria:
Skilled in identifying and communicating security risks within information systems to senior executives and stakeholders
