About the Role:

Reporting to the General Manager Compliance, you will provide expert compliance advice in identifying and assessing risks and considering appropriate controls to manage the risk to support the effective implementation of compliance policies and frameworks across Allianz Australia (AAL).

You will lead and oversee the investigation and remediation of regulatory breaches, the investigation of systemic issues and material weaknesses in the compliance control environment and subsequent reporting to internal governance committees and external regulators on behalf of AAL and subsidiaries.


Other key aspects of the role:

  • Lead and maintain the relationship with Code Governance Committee (CGC) including the management of the Annual CGC return process.
  • Lead the Compliance Advisors across specified Divisions who are responsible to
  • Monitor and assess Line 1 execution of Allianz Group and Local Compliance Policies, processes and procedures; including the effectiveness and quality of the support provided to the relevant Chief General Manager and their line management.
  • Identify gaps in the execution of the compliance frameworks and escalate issues that prevent the achievement of compliant outcomes.
  • Coordinate & manage the Regulatory Reporting Committee (RRC) meetings.
  • Develop key risk indicators and other metrics to monitor, analyse and report on compliance incident and breaches. Identifying opportunities for control improvement and enhancing management and board reporting.
  • Oversee the breach assessment and regulatory reporting framework
  • Oversee the preparation and quality review of all correspondence for regulators.
  • Review, update & manage Responsible Managers (RMs) and other Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) changes with ASIC
  • Identify and escalate significant change to AAL risk profile that result from compliance breaches and process control failures.

Important to your success:


  • Extensive experience in a senior compliance management role for a complex, matrixed, corporate (financial services) organisation.
  • Extensive experience in dealing with regulators for relationship management, reviews, investigations, regulatory breach matters and related compliance activities.
  • Exposure to the operations of a general insurer, life insurer or financial services operation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the local regulatory environment and the issues which impact on the insurance sector as well as the risk and compliance function.
