For our Sydney International Airport store we are looking for a Store Manager.

The Store Manager - Sydney Departures drives business development by using specialist Retail and Sales knowledge to drive the business and deliver results, whilst controlling costs and embedding a high performance culture in the business.

The Store Manager is accountable for store performance against financial and Key Performance Indicator targets.

In addition, the Store Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the store in line with the broader commercial strategy and for ensuring that the Heinemann Duty Free standard of customer satisfaction is delivered, through leading and developing successful sales teams and the effective management of the day to day operations.


  • As a Leader in the business, you will lead by example and motivate, inspire and empower a large Sales team; using a high level of knowledge and expertise to drive and develop sales and engagement today and in the future. People are at the heart of everything we do and thus a strong people focus is a core prerequisite for this role.
  • The Store Manager is a Strategic Business Partner and understands the importance of strategic planning, forecasting, planning systems integration and financial analysis.

Your new job includes

  • Delivers a high level of customer service both personally and within the team that meets both the company's expectations and brand guidelines
  • Ensures consistent high standards of customer service through ongoing effective team training and coaching
  • Manages and achieves set Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • Analyses and executes actions to develop/correct KPIs including but not limited to the development of sales and service strategies
  • Maintains physical security of stock, assets and team
  • Develops and maintains an engaged and enthusiastic team
  • Achieves and monitors team results whilst communicating job expectations
  • Ensures staffing schedule delivers an optimal balance between service and cost efficiency
  • Coaching, counselling and developing team members, ensuring correct company policies and procedures are followed
  • Recruitment of team members who have the right skill and competency set, ensuring cultural fit
  • Develops the Heinemann Brand Promises and values within the team
What you should bring along

  • Previous experience in a similar role or capacity, ideally within the premium Retail/Travel, Fast Moving Consumer Goods or Hospitality Industry.
  • Proven Leader that is capable of developing a high performing culture in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels in the business.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of managing a profit and loss with a keen understanding of the requirements associated with strategic planning, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Welldeveloped communication and coaching skills and the ability to multi task and make things happen.
  • Commercially astute and customer centric.
  • Ability to travel, both domestically as well as internationally.
