The Business Development Executive role is responsible for project management & sales operations support for a diverse range of categories and customers across Australia, New Zealand and Export markets; ensuring products are launched as planned and supplied as per customer requirements.

The scope of this role, which includes private label, industrial and export portfolios, requires a proven and driven project manager with a strong commercial lens who can support sales operations across diverse channels, markets, customers and product categories.

This role can be based in our Sydney, Melbourne or Ballarat office.


About the role

  • Manage diverse and complex projects across all categories including Pizza, Potato, Vegetables and Meals in emerging retail, private label, export and industrial channels.
  • Ownership of the product development and renovation process for current and new customers.
  • Coordinating cross functional project teams, QA, R&D and Packaging teams to develop products in line with customer specifications or business opportunities.
  • Coordination with Commercial finance team for development of costing sheets for new products.
  • Liaising with QA and R&D to gather necessary information for customer proposals, tender submissions and other 3rd party requirements.
  • Liaising with customers, creative & packaging design agencies.
  • Preparation of accurate gate documents and timely submission through IMS for innovation review process and Innovation Leadership Team meeting.
  • Tender submissions collation of cross functional inputs and ownership of customer tender portals.
  • Coordinating product change overs and deletions to minimise write offs (inventory & packaging)
  • Manage and track project costs to budget
  • Strong influencing skills to drive project outcomes across multiple functions.
  • Analysis and updating of forecasts using sales reporting tools (exfactory/Scan data etc)
  • Category based data analysis to assist with optimising private label outcomes for the category and McCain's strategic direction.
  • Liaising with QA to provide adequate and timely responses to customer requests
  • Work closely with demand, production planning and supply chain teams to ensure products are supplied on time, in full.
  • Setup new customers, credit terms, pricing and accruals
  • Populate and maintain customer portals as required e.g. Woolworths PartnerHub, Coles SupplierCentral, Aldi Ariba/App, Foodstuffs Blender etc

About you

  • Ideally tertiary degree qualified
  • Understanding of product development process, manufacturing operations and retailer dynamics (preferably FMCG)
  • Experience with complex project management
  • A strong desire to be proactively involved and influence crossfunctionally within the company.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy, especially in Excel spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to utilise a broad range of business reporting tools eg. Microsoft Office, EDW, SAP, IMS
  • Understanding of the Stage Gate Process
  • Adaptable learning specific to diverse internal and external admin portals/platforms
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer facing demeanour
  • An ability to interpret/understand company objectives as they relate to operational area and effectiveness
  • Self motivated with the ability to meet internal and external deadlines
