What you'll be doing


The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and Sydney's Children's Hospital make up the Sydney Children's Hospital Network (SCHN); the largest network of hospital and services for children in Australia.

CHW Medical Imaging provide paediatric radiology and clinical services and have Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine Physicians who are medically trained clinicians, supported by teams of scientists, technicians, nursing, allied health and administrative staff.


Under the direction of the Heads of Department, the role of the Business Operations Manager will be to provide sound financial and operational advice and support for Medical Imaging to enable and implement the provision of reliable, patient-focused, high quality, efficient, effective, and sustainable services.

This includes management of administration staff, project management, and financial and business advice.

  • Tertiary level qualifications in a relevant field and/or relevant industry experience and existing knowledge of NSW Health system and relevant legislation
  • Experience in development of business plans, quality improvement, benchmarking, process redesign, post implementation review and performance monitoring
  • Demonstrate complex problem solving skills with the ability to constructively challenge and improve processes, approaches and thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing services to internal and external stakeholders to achieve successful business outcomes through leadership, negotiation, and the management of professional relationships within multidisciplinary groups
  • Excellent oral, written communication, presentation skills and the ability to develop reports, business cases, briefs, policies and procedures and support tools for the service delivery within departments.
  • Experience in management planning, coordination and standardisation of processes, service improvement or changes, procurement, effective and efficient use of equipment and consumables, facilities and workflows to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate resources effectively and efficiently and provide advice to departments within workforce management and planning, recruitment and skills mix. This will require the ability to independently prioritise work load and meet deadlines.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
