Therapy Assistant - Speech Pathology


Do you have experience with children and a passion for working with children with Developmental Disabilities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join our friendly and driven trans disciplinary team.

CLIMB Learning is an innovative and busy Early Intervention and Speech Pathology practice based in Mosman. We specialise in delivering best practice therapy services for children with Developmental Disabilities.

We combine evidence based teaching, positive behaviour support and speech pathology to deliver comprehensive programs that help children to shine and reach their full potential.

The Therapy Assistant will be an integral part of the CLIMB team


The role involves:

  • Implementing fun and effective speech therapy sessions under the supervision of the Clinical Director/ Senior Speech Pathologist
  • Support the Clinical in administering formal and informal communication
  • Implementing feeding management plans
  • Assisting in the running of group programs
  • Supporting the children to use their communication devices (AAC) in everyday situations (play, mealtimes, transitions etc)
  • Implement evidence based literacy programs under the supervision of the Clinical Director/ Senior Speech Pathologist
  • Working in the clinic, community and schools/preschools
  • Participating in extensive professional development in the areas of evidence based curriculums and programs, communication (including working with nonverbal children), ABA and Behaviour Support
  • Prepare and create therapy resources
We are looking for the following from our Therapy Assistant (Speech Pathology):

  • Certificate 4 Allied Health Assistant
  • Speech Pathology or willingness to enrol and complete the certification in the next 12 months (at own expense)
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with children
  • Experience in working with children with additional needs
  • Experience/ strong interest in AAC, feeding, Developmental Disabilities and/or literacy
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support
  • A passion for learning and a willingness to take on further study (supported by CLIMB)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Job Types:
