As the SEO Manager, you will be responsible for taking the initiative in helping Senior Management in developing a strong enterprise-level SEO foundation for Qantas now and into the future.


This role will collaborate with teams across the business to remediate and optimise the Qantas search experience, implementing best-in-class on-page and off-page SEO practices; to drive better customer experiences and increase quality lead generation.


Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Identify, plan, and execute an on-page and off-page SEO strategy for Qantas (Airline) with the aim to improve user experience, drive quality leads to the site and optimise performance
  • Conduct indepth search intent and keyword research tasks to look for optimisation opportunities and drive valuable customer experiences to the site
  • Perform ongoing analysis and insights across SEO activities and competitors. Benchmark and measure SEO performance and use data to drive recommendations, drive product development and inform content strategies
  • Report on the effectiveness of SEO activities to senior stakeholders
  • Work closely with content authors, producers, marketing and product owners in producing and writing content that is optimised for user's and search engines (not just Google)
  • Help to develop a content strategy framework with practical recommendations across onpage and offpage best practices
  • Help to remediate, triage and resolve technical SEO issues that have been identified by the technical lead
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, algorithm updates and help to drive Qantas forwards by building futureled SEO strategies in areas such as Visual Search (e.g. Google Lens) and Voice Search

You'll have:

  • Minimum 3+ years' of experience, working in a similar position (inhouse or agency)
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of onpage and offpage SEO best practices, strategies across English and International markets, social networks and marketing channels
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make dataled decisions and recommendations to inform decisions and recommendations
  • Advanced Excel and experience with Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics, desirable
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with an understanding of Readability measurement (Flesch-Kincaid scales), Accessibility and writing for different users/personas desirable
  • Ability to manage and prioritise projects and tasks effectively
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of Content Management Systems, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • A good understanding of technical SEO and core web vitals
  • Experience using SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Bing Webmasters, Naver Webmasters, Google Search Ads, SEMRush, Ahrefs, ScreamingFrog
  • Selfmotivated to work autonomously, with great client and relationship management
  • Keep across the latest trends, algorithm updates and user behaviours with regards to search and travel
