Overview:

  • Parttime (0.4 FTE), Fixed Term position until February 2025
  • Salary HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
About the Role

The Research Assistant will work closely with Professor Anna Hickey-Moody and an academic research team to undertake high quality research activities pursuant to the aims of the Australian Research Council funded project:
LP Creative industries pathways to youth employment in the COVID-19 recession


The successful applicant will undertake empirical research with young people in community arts organizations across metropolitan, regional, and rural Victoria.

The successful applicant will carry out team research in ways that are congruent with the broad project aims and whole of team approach that has been developed by Professor Hickey-Moody.


Across the life of the project, the successful applicant will undertake data organization, offer administrative support, undertake empirical fieldwork, and site maintenance in Victoria.

They will maintain data sets and assist with project management.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting quality research in an area aligned with the project.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in the youth sector and ability to communicate with young people across culturally diverse communities (e.g., LGBTQI+ communities).
  • Ability to build and maintain effective networks with colleagues and liaison with government and industry partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
