Accountable to the Senior Buyer you will be responsible for undertaking corporate transactional and tactical buying (purchasing) activities to ensure goods, services and minor works are purchased in the most efficient and effective manner and ensuring value for money is realised across SA Health through the purchasing process.

The role will be located in the
Adelaide CBD, at the
Citi Centre Building.

What you can expect to deliver:

  • Seeking quotations and facilitating the supply of goods and services as required that meet requirements
  • Identifying preferred purchasers/products/services based on a value for money assessment and making recommendations to customers
  • Undertaking price and service negotiations with suppliers.
  • Assisting in the processing of recalls for all noninventory related items
  • Resolving queries and concerns from end users regarding purchasing practices
  • Liaising with the customer service, data analysis, sourcing and category management teams to ensure targets and objectives are being met
  • Monitoring pricing and product attributes for items catalogued in Oracle
  • Monitor and negotiate pricing discrepancies against negotiated BPA pricing

What you will need to succeed:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, in particular the ability to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking the purchasing of goods and services within a major corporation or the public sector
  • Successful record of identifying customer needs, developing service strategies, and providing quality customer service
  • Knowledge of the customer service chain and the importance of providing goods/services matched to the needs of those customers
  • Experience in contract or project management will be highly regarded
  • Understanding of health sector services and activities would be highly advantageous

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (mínimal patient contact)


SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
