- Consultation with project leads and other key stakeholders to ensure plant and heavy vehicles meet the required standards for the project.
- Managing a team of plant assessors to ensure plant is onboarded correctly and is maintained to the standard and quality required for executing the work safely and efficiently.
- Conducting and maintaining detailed analysis for all items of plant to ensure all risks are identified, assessed and where relevant, appropriate controls are implemented in accordance with the hierarchy of controls.
- Successful implementation and use of the plant management system to deliver agreed project objectives.
- Implementation of equipment maintenance systems to ensure reliable and productive operation of heavy equipment.
- Establishment of positive client and community relationships.
- Plan, lead, organise and control maintenance resources to achieve time, quality, and productivity objectives in compliance with Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Plans.
- Participate in the preparation of the Project Plans including Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental Plans, Project Instructions, Process Control Plans, and other relevant project procedures.
- Implement the Project Plans as it applies to maintenance including procedures relating to Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Plans.
- Direct and control labour, subcontractors, plant, and material.
- Establish and maintain clear line of communication with project support staff and client representatives.
- Liaise with the Project in the control and co-ordination of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate and ensure major suppliers/subcontractors/consultants are capable of meeting project requirements in all respects.
- Obtain and review compliance and/or maintenance records of plant and equipment and ensure such records are appropriately filed.
- Ensure labour and subcontractors comply with their approved Work Method Statements.
- Co-ordinate and direct Subcontractors.
- Undertake inspection and verification activities as required by Project Instructions and other parts of the Project Plans as required.
- Selection, engagement, and deployment of labour within industrial agreements and regulatory guidelines.
- Regular review and report to Project Manager on construction, personnel, and productivity performances.
- Ensure work completed meets or exceeds industry standards and OEM specifications.
- Proactively manage the effectiveness of health safety and environmental measures on site.
- Act in emergency situations.
- Ensure periodic reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Ensure comprehensive project records are established and maintained.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Extensive experience within the plant industry with demonstrated experience managing heavy vehicles and plant.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Industry requirements.
- Ability to communicate with and engage with multiple diverse stakeholders to ensure best for business outcomes are achieved.

About the role
We are currently seeking a Plant Manager / Plant Superintendentto join Select Plant Australiain Melbourne on a major project. This permanent role offers great career prospects with one of the largest specialist plant hire businesses in Australia.
This role will have overall responsibility for the plant and heavy vehicle fleet being used on the project from a maintenance, utilisation, compliance, and regulatory perspective. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing guidance and mentoring to the project team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
Perform other duties as may be defined by the Project Manager/Depot Manager.
