Division Responsibilities
Service Delivery Division is responsible for providing older Australians with quality
information and supporting seamless access to health and aged care services. We work
collaboratively across the Ageing and Aged Care Group and Department to ensure:

  • The My Aged Care website, contact centre, and face-to-face workforce are providing
senior Australians with contemporary, easy to understand information about the
aged care system and the services that are available to them.

  • There is stronger integration between the health care and aged care systems so that
senior Australians can transition between settings more easily and get the right care
at the right time.

  • We have a robust intelligence and networking capability to support policy
development, program design and delivery, including programs and policies that
impact the outcomes for senior Australians.

  • There is appropriate support for the aged care sector to respond to COVID19 and
other emergency situations.

  • Our presence across the country increasingly allows for a localised, regional
approach to health and aged care system regulation and management.


Branch Responsibilities
The Queensland and Northern Territory Offices are responsible for supporting local
implementation of a range of Australian Government health and aged care programs. Each
office has a key role in supporting delivery of programs and services, while managing
relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. The Queensland
Office works collaboratively with other state and territory offices as well as policy, program,
regulatory and corporate areas of the Department to achieve the Government's priorities.
Key areas of focus are aged care, Indigenous health, mental health, regional stewardship
and emergency management.


Section Responsibilities
The Aged Care Qld section works collaboratively with other state and territory offices as
well as policy, program, regulatory and corporate areas of the Department to achieve the
Government's priorities. Officers in the Queensland team conduct a range of duties in the

following streams:
State-wide engagement and provider management, places management,
regional teams and Covid case management. Stewardship is a key focus of Aged Care Qld.
Stewardship of the aged care system is about understanding the whole system. Engaging
with key stakeholders in aged care, senior Australians and supporting aged care providers to
make the changes needed to ensure they provide the highest quality of aged care, and drive
improvements in local delivery of aged care services.


Key Responsibilities

All positions:

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding aged care, relevant health areas and
aged care reforms and interpret relevant legislation, policies and procedures to
prepare clear, evidence-based information to support decision-makers to exercise
delegations in a nationally consistent and accountable manner

  • Undertake or support engagement activities at multiple levels, from responding to
operational queries, to representing the department at various meetings and
presenting at forums with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Contribute to and lead the development of team goals, work plans and broader
section planning (including plans and processes to ensure effective engagement with
stakeholders), managing priorities and workloads and undertaking staff supervision
and support activities


Regional Teams (Brisbane Based)

  • Develop an understanding of the local community and the services within that
community including planning for future needs.

  • Undertake stewardship activities to enhance the governance of aged care and
support better outcomes for older Australians including through identification and
escalation of issues, solutions brokering activities, and
