- $110,321 - $116,399 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation
  • The department has an Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) Framework to provide salaries that are consistent with other Commonwealth Public Sector Agencies and to reward and retain high performing employees at the APS6 and Executive Levels._
  • Under this Framework, APS6 and Executive Level employees will have access to the IFA Framework on engagement, promotion or movement from another Commonwealth Public Sector Agency. A little bit about us

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (the department) is responsible for the design and implementation of the Australian Government's infrastructure, transport and regional development policies and programs, and is the lead agency for communications and the arts.

The People, Governance, Parliamentary and Communication Division is responsible for the provision of high quality business services, systems, support and advice to the department and ministerial offices.

The division is responsible for providing ministerial and parliamentary services, human resource management services, risk management oversight, governance, communication and other corporate services.


The Assurance, Integrity, Risk and Governance branch is responsible for audit, risk management, integrity services, Freedom of Information, governance, records management, fraud and Comcover insurance.

The Branch plays an important role in supporting our divisions to deliver departmental outcomes, build organisation capability and enhance risk culture.


The opportunity we have available


Being part of the Assurance, Integrity, Risk and Governance Branch provides a unique opportunity to gain an overall view of the department's policy, program and regulatory activities through the work conducted as part of the freedom of information, governance secretariat, fraud, risk and insurance functions.

Work in these teams enables and assists divisions across the broad scope of the department to manage risk and uncertainty, and improve capability and performance.


What will you do?

  • Managing, leading and coaching staff and maintaining a positive working environment. This involves setting priorities and managing resources effectively.
  • Contributing to the design and ongoing process improvement of the section's responsibilities.
The role will contribute to a range of the following:

  • Supporting the Chief Risk Officer by providing timely, practical and reliable advice on fraud, privacy, probity and insurance related issues.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing policies and frameworks around privacy, probity, insurance and fraud.
  • Developing fraud control strategies. This includes contributing to the review and maintenance of the department's fraud control plan and fraud risk assessment, and providing advice on roles and responsibilities for preventing, detecting and responding to fraud.
  • Leading the department's response to fraud tip offs and undertaking fraud investigations.
  • Providing advice on Comcover insurance issues, including claims management and reporting, and acting as the principal point of contact for the department. This also involves coordinating the Comcover renewal questionnaire.
