Our client:

A mid-tier gold mining company in the goldfields region.

They are still in the early stages of mine processing and so an exciting new opportunity has become available within their Laboratory.

The role:


We are currently on the look out for a Laboratory Technician who has 4 + years experience in the mining industry.

Ideally, you'll have construction and commissioning experience as you'll be setting up the Laboratory to the way you see is most efficient with a back to back.

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you'll be supported at all times.


This role is permanent full time, and is based on site on an 8 days on 6 days off FIFO roster.

Fly in and out Mondays, 1 hour flight to site.


Duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensure a safe work environment through incident/accident reporting, high housekeeping standards, safe work procedures and active involvement in safety programs and meetings.
  • Planning sample priority.
  • Sample preparation, sorting, racking and drying of samples.
  • Sizing and moisture analysis of metallurgical samples.
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation and equipment; Aqua Regia Digest, Leachwell, AAS operation.
  • Ensure Quality Control compliance.
  • Sample collection where required.
  • Enter, maintain and report records of all tested samples daily.
  • Managing the laboratory standard operating procedures including writing and updating.
  • Organising daily work to optimise efficiency and meet turnaround requirements.
  • Minor maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Provide technical solutions for lab sampling and processing issues.
  • Troubleshooting sample errors in the plant and submitting recommendations to metallurgy department.
  • Conducting test work programs and surveys as required and providing metallurgy department with recommended actions and reports.
  • Training new laboratory staff

Skills/experiences:


  • Minimum 5 years' industry experience gold experience is highly desirable
  • Valid WA C class drivers license
  • A high level of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Practical experience with AAS
  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques preferred
  • Practical Aqua Regia and/or operating analytical equipment experience preferred
