About the company:

Verve Partners has partnered with a leading business that provides servicing, parts, reconditioning and rebuilds for industrial gas engines. The business provides expert knowledge and workmanship on gas engines, gas compression engines and statutory generators. Additionally the business provides on-site mechanical and technical services for power generating units, CHP, biogas, and emergency power.


The opportunity:


Reporting into the Directors, the General Manager will be pivotal in running the business, including day to day operations, people management, as well as sales and senior account management with key customers.

The General Manager will utilise exemplary leadership skills to lead the business to be efficient, productive, effective, and profitable.


You will need excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders across other parts of the business.


The key responsibilities:


  • Assume responsibility for the overall operations of the business reporting into the Shareholders.
  • Lead sales, sales development and commercial strategy including the generation of quotes and sales.
  • Provide 'hands on' support the daily operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with Directors in setting and driving organisational vision and operations strategy. Implement and maintain business strategies and plans that align with the short
- and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the Directors.

  • Maintain and further develop the Strategic Plan annually in consultation with relevant parties and translate into actionable steps to achieve growth plans including implement group goal setting, reporting/monitoring and highlevel performance management to achieve goals.
  • Analyse internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement and improvement.
  • Work with the Directors to clearly articulate and communicate key messages to their people keeping them informed and engaged.
  • In consultation with the Directors, establish, maintain and manage operational budgets and implement a system to hold accountable to budget and critical timelines.
  • Lead the team with maintain and implementing performance metrics, mentor and develop.
  • Ensure policies, procedures and systems are fitforpurpose and complaint with Parent companies.
  • 5+ years' experience within General Management or similar within related industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business/Mechanical/Electrical fields or some form of Engineering/Industrial discipline.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of financials, data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Proven track record of outstanding performance in a complex, familyowned group of companies.
  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and achieving groupwide and business unit strategic plans.
  • Experience with high level corporate risk register.
  • Exemplary leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • High level of commercial and sales experience with proven success.
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
  • Ability to diagnose operational issues quickly and foresee and communicate potential risks.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and develop managers and key people.
