SWSLHD has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health Clinician to join a collaborative and professional team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team who demonstrates capacity in acute child protection, trauma informed therapeutic care for children/young people and their families through understanding the potential long term health impacts for people who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect.


What You'll be Doing

The Joint Child Protection Response Program ( JCPRP) Senior Health Clinician (SHC) is responsible for clinical service provision, strategic and operational leadership in the Health JCPRP workforce.


The SHC is responsible for managing all Health components of the JCPRP within the interagency partnership between NSW Police and Community Services, to provide children, young people and non-offending family members who have experienced serious and criminal sexual and physical abuse, high quality service provision.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Psychologist; Completion of a fouryear sequence of accredited undergraduate study in the discipline of Psychology (or equivalent completed overseas) with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia

Social Work:
A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal communities and/or demonstrated high level professional knowledge & understanding of issues surrounding child sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect of children and family violence in Aboriginal communities
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical experience in relation to child protection and crisis interventions, counselling and case management and demonstrated knowledge of child protection issues, impact and relevant child protection legislation and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex competing priorities, work under pressure, manage projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated highlevel skills, experience and use of professional judgement in providing therapeutic responses to victims of sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect of children within a high stress work environment including a highlevel of knowledge of health service delivery and referral options for JCPRP clients
  • Experience working in partnership with key multidisciplinary and interagency stakeholders, to lead the development of therapeutic responses in a highly stressful work environment to meet demand and address client needs
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including interagency negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution skills and the ability to adapt communication style to suit target audience
