Communications and Campaign Officer - Western Public Health Unit


A unique opportunity exists in a permanent, full-time capacity for a Communications and Campaign Officer to join the Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) based at Western Health.

This is a chance to be involved in a local place based and integrated approach to public health addressing health inequities as part of a team in the Central and Western region of metropolitan Melbourne.


The Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) has been established to strengthen the public health response to communicable diseases and other health issues.

The Unit is part of a system of nine Local Public Health Units providing a state-wide system of public health delivery and oversight.

WPHU is led and coordinated by Western Health and responsible for approximately 1.3M people in the LGA's of Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Hobson's Bay, Merri-bek, Melbourne, Brimbank, Melton and Wyndham.


The Communication and Campaign Officer will work with key internal and external stakeholders, to develop communications and support coordination and execution of campaigns aimed at improving health outcomes and increasing health equity across the catchment.

The role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and support the creation, review, editing, publishing and coordination of high quality and accurate communications and content.

This will include internal and external communications, events, content development, multimedia campaigns and maintaining digital channels.

While primarily based in the Western Public Health Unit, you will work closely with the support and guidance of Western Health Public Affairs.

The Public Affairs unit oversees internal and external communication for the organisation, manages all media enquiries and proactive media liaison and supports communication planning for major projects and initiatives across Western Health.

- have a tertiary qualification in communications, health promotion, public health or related field.
