The role


As the Hardlines Designer for Country Road Home, you will work in conjunction with the Head of Design on style vision, colour direction, ranging and must haves.

A fundamental part of the role will be to design, develop and source hardline products with a focus on sustainability, ensuring coordination with the Softlines Designer for a cohesive product offering that is on-brand, of exceptional quality and of compelling value to our customer.

You will also manage a Junior Designer to support the category design, development and sourcing requirements along with hardline administration, file and sample maintenance.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, brief, develop and source original products that meet the Country Road design direction, option plan, price points and margin requirements
  • Coordinate Hardline signoff's with Junior Designer to ensure Hardline design, development and sourcing requirements are met within or ahead of the Country Road Home Critical Path
  • Lead and influence the Style vision for Country Road Home Hardlines categories
  • Drive Colour direction for the Country Road Home Hardlines categories
  • Innovate category products through Country Road Groups Good Business Journey and customer focussed initiatives
  • Lead the Hardline sampling requirements in conjunction with the Junior Designer to ensure correct number of samples are ordered for eCommerce, Marketing, PR, VM and Styling
  • Administer Cost Sheets, Range Boards and Flow Boards as applicable to your product designs
  • Work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams to achieve product outcomes, such as technical design, merchandise, production, packaging, marketing, sustainability, onboarding, styling, ecommerce and legal
  • Contribute to trend forecasting and workshops for seasonal design vision
  • Liaise and build relationships with agents and vendors to ensure capabilities are understood, designs are briefed appropriately, and quality, construction, prices and minimums are achievable
  • Prepare and present design briefs and ranges to key stakeholders, including Head of Design, Merchandise Manager, Marketing Manager, Retail Operations, VM and Managing Director.
  • Skill in Adobe Suite, 3D Modelling and Microsoft Suite
  • A tertiary design qualification
  • Previous experience in Design role
  • Experience working with local and offshore vendors
  • A proven track record of designing & developing commercially successful product ranges
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to multitask & work effectively within a team
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a busy team environment.
