Job Description:


As the Principal Product Designer, Publishing, you will play a crucial role in leading and shaping our product design strategy, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional customer experiences across various digital platforms.

Reporting directly to the Director of Product Publishing, you will have the opportunity to lead design teams, establish design systems and governance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the design organisation.


You will also work closely with the Director of Product, Publishing and other key stakeholders to define and execute the digital product strategy for Nine's publishing brands.


Responsibilities:


  • Leadership and Team Management set goals, drive a culture of design excellence, mentor and guide the broader product & design team.
  • Design Systems and Governance
  • Develop and maintain across all digital platforms and drive design literacy within Nine.
  • Upskilling and Professional Development
  • Collaborate with other design leaders at Nine, and drive a culture of continuous learning.
  • Customer Experience and Innovation
  • Champion the importance of customercentric thinking and user research.
  • Digital Media, News, and Storytelling
  • Design and deliver digital experiences that engage users and collaborate with the newsroom to enhance digital news.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a design leader or in a similar senior design role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product design outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in usercentred design principles, UX research methodologies, and interaction design.
  • Proficiency in designing for various digital platforms, including mobile web, mobile apps, and responsive web design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining design systems and governance frameworks.
  • Lead and inspire design teams, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and growth.
  • Proven experience and a deep passion for digital media, news, and storytelling, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in these domains.
  • Extensive experience designing and delivering digital experiences in the media industry, with a focus on creating engaging and immersive storytelling experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex narratives and information into compelling visual and interactive designs that captivate and inform users.
