The _
Production Assistant _is responsible for supporting a project production team on a daily basis with a wide range of duties, with the goal of a project team that functions smoothly and efficiently.

It is a great opportunity to work and learn from within the core of a Production team.

This position is with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the visual effects division of Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd. LLC,.

ILM is responsible for the visual effects of more than 350 feature films, including _Star Wars, Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean _and _The Avengers_ who have teamed up with TAFE NSW to deliver an intensive 2-week training course on working in the production department of scripted drama productions.


Successful applicants will need to be available to attend the course in person at
TAFE Kingswood Campus for 2 consecutive weeks commencing on
Monday 25th September 2023. This will be a hybrid model of training that will involve face to face on campus and virtual delivery.

Please note this 2-week period is a free training course provided by TAFE NSW which will provide invaluable networking opportunities and exposure to the technical side of film and episodic production._


It will also open the door to a potential career path in the broader Media industry, with the possibility for progression to more senior roles within the production department and beyond.


Primary Responsibilities:

The key skills and responsibilities of the role of Production Assistant on a film/episodic production include:

  • Set up show meetings both physical and virtual, ensuring all project meetings run smoothly and conflicts are resolved
  • Prepare and maintain the dailies playlist, including all internal communication
  • Assist with creating playlists, presenting screens, and general preparation for meetings
  • Be the point person for project I/O needs including mirroring files, receiving and sending files to client and other site
  • Assist the production team in keeping track of project crew's working week, including availability, sick days and holiday
  • General crew support including arranging meals, events and travel
  • Assist facilities with general office maintenance duties

Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Film, Art, Communications or related or you have gained that experience by working in our industry would be advantageous
  • One year or more experience in a fastpaced work environment with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities
  • Good computer skills, particularly excel
  • Enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and attention to detail while working under pressure
  • Good people skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups
  • Highly motivated to work in the film and TV industry
  • Problem solving ability and a proactive approach to all situations

Eligibility

  • Must be an Australian Citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident, or Humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand Citizen
  • Living in NSW
  • 18 years and over
  • Completed HSC and/or relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. business degree)
  • Must be available and committed to the full 2week course commencing Monday 25th September 2023

$1.00 - $2.00 per year
