These positions will be based at either Thomas Embling Hospital or within our prison locations based within the Deer Park or city based services.

Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team.

Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs.

With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility.

About the Role:


The overall responsibility of this role is to contribute positively to the engagement and support of consumers and their families and carers as part of the broader clinical team.

Under the supervision and delegation of an experienced occupational therapist, the person in this role will work within the agreed core duty list for the role.


Duties:


  • Work with Occupational Therapists to facilitate structured intervention sessions, with a focus on empowering participation
  • Promote engagement and activity to gather information to support assessment and care planning
  • Work with consumers to engage in meaningful occupations
  • Design and develop occupational therapy services to suit the needs of patients and their environment.
  • Facilitate small group sessions

About You:


  • Be studying at a Bachelor or Masters level Occupational Therapy University Course
  • Enjoy learning and reflecting in the moment and through supervision
  • Interested in learning more about mental health and forensic mental health.
