The role
As part of our Maritime group, the Modelling and Analysis Team Lead will play a key role in furthering the development of one or more of the following area's within Saab's 9LV Combat Systems.
- Using modelling and simulation to carry out combat system performance analysis and trade studies; this includes designing and building large simulators consisting many different models;
- Detailed algorithm design in support of the Combat Management System;
- Support Verification and Validation of a combat system; and
- Support R&D activities.
The Modelling and Analysis Team Lead will lead a team of engineers in undertaking M&A activities that span the applicable elements of the SE lifecycle, including the acquisition of CS equipment.
Undertake the necessary planning and coordination to ensure the required outputs for the assigned tasks are delivered to the agreed requirements, cost and schedule.
Where assigned tasks share common capabilities, systems or equipment ensure that as appropriate the team's deliverables maximise reuse of system engineering artefacts and solutions.
- Provide supervision and direction to other members of the Modelling and Analysis team
- Provide technical oversight of projects as directed
- Lead and contribute to specification and design of models
- Participate in the development and maintenance of software models and associated tools
- Carry out statistical analysis and produce reports on the performance of various aspects of the Combat System
- Develop an understanding of the operational use of the associated system/subsystem/equipment being modelled
- Lead and contribute to the verification and validation planning of models
- Participate in the integration and test of models
- Provide support & guidance to the M&A team
- Your skills and experience will include:_
- Demonstrated planning and technical management skills.
- Ability to communicate system engineering processes & outputs over the System Engineer lifecycle.
- Experience with products, development environment and tools used to develop and support software simulation environments.
- Five plus years of development of a software intensive system in C++ or similar.
- Supervising or leading team members in technical projects.
- Tertiary qualification in computer systems, electronic/electrical or similar engineering field
- Desirable_:_
- Technical expertise or knowledge in at least one of the identified elements of the CS domain (Air, Surface, Subsurface, EW, and Cyber/Information).
- Experience with the 9LV Combat Management System.
- Awareness and ability to address whole of capability/system issues, such as safety and supportability.
