The opportunity:

Pulp and paper is a big part of what we do at Visy. We're proud of all the paper we produce, in particular our recycled paper. That's because, when we say it's recycled, we mean it. Our recycled paper even includes approximately 98% post-consumer waste.


Based at Gibson Island and reporting to the Continuous Improvement Leader, you will support the site operations by operating and maintaining the anaerobic wastewater treatment plant and the desalination plant, and associated systems, to be compliant, maximise uptime, and to function safely and cost effectively.

You will also ensure production and quality targets are achieved, and compliance reporting to the relevant stakeholders.

  • Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:_
  • Monitor stock levels and usage, perform routine testing and equipment checks, actioning nonconformances to ensure continued plant operation
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure the operational and compliance KPIs are met
  • Continuously improve the mill water systems by proposing, costing, and implementing process improvement projects
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements are met

What you will bring to the team:

  • Prior experience in a wastewater treatment and/or desalination plant operation is preferred
  • Proven ability to monitor and maintain Plant & Equipment as required
  • You are proactive and a confident communicator, with a high sense of urgency
  • You are willing and able to work under physically challenging conditions
  • You have a safetyfirst mindset and always comply with OHS&E policies and procedures
  • Strong ability to build relationships with external and internal stakeholders
