Your New Role


As a Lecturer in Design, you will be a key driver in inspiring and nurturing the next generation of design thinkers and practitioners.

Having worked in one or more of the following design disciplines - Animation and Game Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design - you will use your expertise and passion for teaching to deliver engaging lectures, guide students through practical projects, and contribute to the development of innovative curriculum.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality lectures and conduct practical sessions across various modes (online and facetoface) and year levels.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
  • Conduct tutorials, demonstrations, and workshops that stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Supervise HDR and Honours students.
  • Mentor and provide academic guidance and support to students on their projects and career pathways.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update curriculum content.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities within your area of expertise.
  • Participate in university service and academic administration as needed.
  • Engage with industry on projects and/or workintegrated learning initiatives.
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.

Essential Criteria

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant design discipline and/or equivalent professional experience and recognition.
  • Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in one or more design disciplines (minimum 4 years preferred).
  • Demonstrated teaching or professional experience in 3D digital modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching and developing curriculum for both online and facetoface modalities.
  • Strong creative and technical skills, with a portfolio that showcases your work and expertise.
  • Dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to contributing to a positive and collegial work environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Preference will be given to applicants with qualifications or professional experience in the following design disciplines: Animation and Game Design; Fashion; Industrial Design.
  • The ability to teach across more than one design discipline will be highly regarded.
