Description
Join Lynas Rare Earths as we embark on our Global expansion Journey - to help shape a new future.

The rare earth materials Lynas produces are essential inputs to future-facing technologies designed to lower carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption.

This includes permanent magnet motors for technologies such as hybrid and electric vehicles, and wind turbines.

Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world.

Lynas is building a Processing facility in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to process concentrate from the Mt Weld Mine and Concentration Plant.

Mt Weld concentrator is looking to expand production to ensure capacity to feed to new Kalgoorlie processing facility.

The Mt Weld concentrator expansion will initially consist of installing new equipment for the following, with further process options currently being developed.

  • Comminution (mineral sizer, SAG Mill, & Bal Mill) with classification (target size P80 of 53 microns.
  • Flotation (both gangue mineral preflotation and rare earth oxide mineral flotation).
  • Ultrafine regrinding with classification (target size P80 ~10 microns).
  • Concentrate leaching stage (gangue mineral removal).
  • Concentrate Dewatering thickener and filtration.
  • Concentrate storage and delivery.
  • Recycled water treatment plant (patented technology).
  • Tailings storage facility for 3 different tailings streams.
Lynas is looking for a driven Metallurgist to join a small motivated metallurgical team.

In the role of Project Metallurgist, you will:

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to safety.

  • Be part of the Lynas team during the detailed engineering stage.
  • Be part of the commissioning team for the expansion.
  • Develop and coordinate internal and external testwork programs focused on improving the performance and operating cost of processing future ores.
  • Build geometallurgical knowledge of the Mt Weld orebody, develop metallurgy factors for the Mt Weld Ore Reserve and coordinate testwork programs aimed at increasing the Mt Weld Ore Reserve.

Qualities we value:

  • Minimum 5 years operational experience in minerals processing, with experience at a plant/project metallurgist level.
  • Previous exposure to operation of concentrators including comminution, flotation, and dewatering circuits.
  • Ability to autonomously develop, conduct and interpret metallurgical test work, project supervision and completion/installation, particularly in flotation.
  • Have a tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or equivalent.
  • Show initiative, selfmotivation, and sound problemsolving skills in resolving technically challenging issues.
  • Have a willingness to learn unique oxide mineral flotation and related water chemistry challenges.
  • Have a high level of attention to detail with planning, analytical and decisionmaking skills.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in process design, engineering and commissioning would be seen as advantageous, whether brownfields or greenfields projects.

Benefits include:
