This company has a large portfolio of renewable energy assets under development as well as operating assets across multiple generation technology types.

Their retail business provides long
- energy supply agreements, energy trading, risk management and asset management services to business customers.

About the role

About you
You will have broad market knowledge within the energy markets (gas & electricity) sphere. You will have the ability to use the analytical information/data to share information and communicate with at all levels.

You will be keen to share your knowledge about the energy markets with junior members of staff who are hungry to learn from you.

You are comfortable with presenting to and influencing C-Suite stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Provide thought leadership and creativity in developing innovative solutions to new problems, together with Senior Managers within the business, and then present this to the C-Suite
Lead the Market Analysis stream within the analytics team
Engage with the Spot Trading, Forward Trading, Portfolio and Commercial teams to Develop tools to provide market analysis and insights for Australian Gas and Electricity physical and contract markets
Review external reports from market bodies and consultants and provide insightful summaries to internal stakeholders.
Mentor and train junior members of the team
Lead the analytical requirements for large projects e.g. tenders for products/new developments, with mínimal assistance

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

NEM and East Coast gas market experience
Ideally experience running a market model (e.g., Plexos or similar)
Technical / programming skills SQL, Microsoft Excel, coding in R and Python
Statistical skills collection, organisation, analysis, and interpretation of numerical data
Excellent analytical thinker and problem solver work revolves around coming up with models, tools and techniques that have not been done before, as such, there is a lot of experimentation
Project leadership and mentoring of junior team members.
