The Policy Officer is part of the Emergency Management Policy team which is responsible for coordinating across the Department's important and broad ranging emergency management functions to lead the provision of strategic advice and input to shape whole of Victorian Government emergency management reforms.

The position is also responsible for contributing to the design and delivery of policies and projects to strengthen DEECA's organisational capability and capacity to meet its emergency responsibilities.


In this role, you will build strong relationships across DEECA and with key sector partners and use your influence to further policy and program objectives.

The position requires strong policy and critical thinking skills, adaptability to navigate a dynamic environment and deliver timely and well-targeted advice and successful delivery of initiatives, in addition to strong interpersonal skills.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, law, emergency management or similar is desirable.

The work location for these positions are 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne / Flexible.
