    Description

    We are seeking an engineer who is enthusiastic about Cloud services to join our expanding Jira SRE team.

    This team oversees the infrastructure, tooling, and automation that Jira Cloud operates on (compute, databases, queues, and caches) and possesses a profound understanding of how Jira Cloud utilizes infrastructure to fulfill customer reliability expectations.

    As a Shield Engineer, you will serve as the main point of contact for Atlassian teams, enhancing the effectiveness of the SRE teams you assist.

    Utilizing your product knowledge, you will address various requests through our service desk.

    Moreover, you will foster cooperation between engineering and other Atlassian teams, establish procedures, create tools, and streamline tasks to consistently enhance team performance.

    You will be under the supervision of an Engineering Manager and work directly with an engineering team.

    Your responsibilities will include:
    - Assist fellow Atlassians by resolving their issues and inquiries
    - Analyze operational metrics and user query trends to identify areas for enhancement
    - Advocate for the customers within the team and represent their requirements
    - Lead initiatives to decrease support workload and promote future enhancements
    - Automate repetitive tasks and enhance workflows to minimize manual efforts
    - Improve self-service capabilities through comprehensive documentation and training
    - Collaborate with seasoned Shield engineers to promote a top-notch support experience

    Your qualifications:
    - Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
    - Approach problem-solving analytically
    - Willingness to aid others with their technical issues, irrespective of simplicity or repetition
    - Proficient in modern development and operational best practices
    - Ability to devise solutions using shell scripting, Python/Java/Kotlin, and Cloud Infrastructure (e.g., AWS)
    - (Desirable) Proficiency in CI/CD and DevOps tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions
    - (Desirable) Familiarity with Atlassian products such as Jira, Bitbucket Cloud, Pipelines, and Bamboo
