About the Role


The Communications Advisor role will be responsible for providing communications support within the project delivery areas at Development Victoria, including housing, precincts and civic infrastructure.


The role will predominantly work across Development Victoria's housing portfolio and will be responsible for developing communications strategies, as well as delivering communications activities such as community updates and bulletins, social media content, media releases and web copy.


About You

  • Bachelor degree or postgraduate degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience in a communications, engagement, journalism or corporate affairs role (3+ years).
  • Experience in providing strategic communications advice for construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in managing a range of stakeholders in sometimes complex situations.
  • An understanding of State or local government priorities and processes.
  • Experience in using digital and online tools to produce online content for a range of platforms such as social media channels and websites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications strategies and action plans to support project delivery and enhance the reputation of Development Victoria and its stateshaping projects.
  • Develop high quality content and communications materials for a range of channels to promote projects and the Development Victoria brand.
  • Deliver wellwritten communications materials to promote projects, including community updates and bulletins, web copy, fact sheets, media releases and social media content.
  • Work with the Senior Media Advisor to coordinate media responses and proactive opportunities where required.
  • Support the Senior Digital Advisor in developing and identifying online content for a range of channels including Development Victoria's website and social media channels. This could include developing online content such as project videos and images.
  • Provide communications support to Development Victoria's internal engagement team where required.
  • Keep senior colleagues within Corporate Affairs updated and informed of issues, risks, and opportunities across relevant project.
  • Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, communications and engagement staff from key partners and consultants, to positively position Development Victoria and assist in achieving positive project outcomes.
