Position Information:

Tregear Public School is located in the Mount Druitt principal network with an enrolment of 337 students.

25% of students have English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) and 40% of students identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.

Tregear Public School features four support classes offering provision for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, Autism spectrum disorders, and emotional and behavioural disorders.

A committed staff with a range of experiences from early career to long-term experiences, and supportive community work towards a common vision to ensure that every student has a positive, happy and rewarding school experience by building a sense of belonging through positive relationships to maximise authentic engagement.

The PAX Good Behaviour Game and Trauma Informed Practice underpin the care continuum, while the school partners with many community organisations to provide additional services and support to students and their families in order to improve outcomes.

Students benefit from many extra-curricular and cultural opportunities.

There is a school wide focus on improving outcomes in reading and numeracy and teachers are committed to implementing evidence-based teaching practices.


Selection Criteria:


In addition to the general selection criteria, resilient and courageous leadership that drives a culture of high expectations and solves problems through a solutions-focused, collaborative and consultative approach.


Demonstrated recent experience in leading an inclusive school environment underpinned by high relational trust with families, while leveraging the support and expertise of partner organisations, Department teams, and school-based staff.

Ability to lead the implementation of the new curriculum with a specific focus on raising educational achievement in numeracy.


Knowledge of and capacity to proactively support students with diverse learning and behavioural needs while demonstrating care and compassion towards staff members in order to maintain and enhance their health and wellbeing.

  • High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
  • Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
  • Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
