SC1 Demonstrated experience, capacity, and flexibility to work with children of all age groups within the ELC.


SC2 Demonstrated knowledge of the National Early Years Learning Framework, Victoria Early Years Learning Framework, and the National Quality Standards with the capacity to contribute to the ELC Quality Improvement Plan.


SC3 Demonstrated understanding of child development and a capacity to use different approaches (such as adult-led, child-led and guided learning) in interactions with children.


SC4 Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.


SC5 Ability to maintain a safe learning environment through an understanding of appropriate policies and procedures and responsive decision making.


SC6 Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth.


Role:


  • Hold current First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification
  • Hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Display good written and verbal communication skills together with the confidence to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, parents and families.
  • Possess the ability to work professionally as part of a highly motivated and collaborative team.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be involved in all aspects of service delivery

  • Ensure that the Privacy Act is adhered to and that confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Participate in work plan reviews on a regular basis
  • Availability to work all shifts from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
  • This position will require an additional 228 hours during school holiday periods.

Responsibilities:


  • Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines
  • Supports communication between teachers and parents
  • Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities
  • Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting
  • Communicating with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
  • Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure
  • Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting
  • Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs independently or under mínimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides, providing routine coordination, guidance, and support to other student support staff, liaising with external providers of support services about clearly defined support needs and resources, assisting teachers with the communication of student outcomes and educational programs
  • Provides medical intervention support to a student/s, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance
  • Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille

Who May Apply:


  • A relevant Diploma Qualification in Children¿s Services is preferred for this position.
  • First Aid Level 2 Certificate with anaphylaxis training
