Research Officer (EPIWATCH Analyst) - The Kirby Institute

  • Employment Type: Parttime (20 hours per week)
  • Duration: 3 year fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $91,472 $97,579 FTE (pro rata to 0.57FTE) + 17% Super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid working, work from home and from UNSW Sydney campus)

Why Your Role Matters:


As a Research Officer (EPIWATCH analyst), you will play a key role in the multidisciplinary infectious disease research team as an analyst for EPIWATCH.

Working with other analysts, students and researchers, you will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and analysing EPIWATCH data and creating a data flow from un-curated data to curated, public data.

The role of Research Officer reports to the EPIWATCH Team Lead and has no direct reports.


Who You Are:


  • Tertiary qualifications in medicine and public health.
  • Clinical experience
  • High level statistical or GIS analytical capability.
  • Demonstrated capacity to conduct literature searches and to evaluate, interpret and synthesise the results of such searches, including quantitative research.
  • Demonstrated experience in infectious diseases surveillance and public health.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work well both independently and within a team
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to write reports
