The role:

Westgold are currently seeking a Boilermaker to join their team on a 2:2 roster. their Boilermakers carry out routine preventative maintenance, shutdown, and repair work.

With experience in structural welding, their Boilermakers are kept very busy as we ensure that their sites are always in safe working order.

Location:_the company's gold mines in the Murchinson region of regional Western Australia, with fly-in-fly-out to site from Perth, except for semi-regular attendance in the Perth corporate office during the rostered time on.

Employment type:_ this is a full-time, salaried, permanent role, with potential for internal promotion in the future. The fly-in-fly-out roster on offer is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.


Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • Equipment Maintenance: Conducting maintenance, repairs, and fabrication of fixed plant equipment, including crushers, mills, tanks, and other processing machinery.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Performing welding tasks, such as arc welding, gas cutting, and metal fabrication, to repair and modify mining equipment and structures.
  • Metalwork: Working with various metals and materials to shape, cut, and assemble components for fixed plant equipment.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to understand equipment specifications and fabrication requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict safety regulations and procedures while working with heavy machinery, tools, and hazardous materials.
  • Structural Integrity: Ensuring the structural integrity of fixed plant equipment by inspecting for defects, cracks, and weaknesses.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Participating in preventive maintenance activities to identify potential issues and avoid equipment breakdowns.
  • Equipment Installation: Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new fixed plant equipment and machinery.
  • Equipment Overhauls: Conducting major equipment overhauls to extend the lifespan and optimize the performance of fixed plant assets.

Pneumatic Systems:
Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their integration with fixed plant equipment.

  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for proper documentation and tracking.
  • Emergency Response: Being available for emergency repair callouts to minimize downtime in case of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other maintenance teams, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance equipment performance and reliability.

What do I need?

  • Australian trade qualification as a Boilermaker with Cert III Engineering
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Forklift/Telehandler certificate

  • Manual C class Driver's Licence
