Our Journey:


Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.


The General Services team at Monash Medical Centre, is seeking qualified Patient Services Assistants who strives consistently to deliver high quality and efficient cleaning services.


Positions available:


ICU Afternoon Shift
Monday to Sunday hrs

A Day in the Life:


Based at Clayton working in ICU theses permanent roles incorporates cleaning of patient areas, ward other patient support services, patient meal services, patient transfer between wards and other clinical areas, mortuary transfers and can involve patient lifting & turning, in ward bed areas under the direction of nursing staff.


Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Patient discharge assistance
  • Daily & discharge cleaning
  • Use of lifting machines and slings and at times assisting with Bariatric patients
  • Assisting nursing staff as requested
  • Transfer & cleaning of ward equipment
  • Patient transfers with use of equipment; bed movers and wheelchairs.
  • Dropping off and collection patient related items to various services with the hospital such as
pathology, blood bank etc.


About You:


  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • Holds a strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team
  • Takes pride in your work with great attention to detail
  • Has great time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Experienced with patient turning would be highly regarded.

What you need:


  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks
  • Excellent understanding of patient identification procedures.
  • Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
  • Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures
  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment _(desirable)_
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Current Victorian drivers licence _(desirable)_
