    Description

    APRA's mandate is to protect the Australian Community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances, financial promises made by institutions we supervise are met within a stable, efficient and competitive financial system. To help us deliver on our mandate and strategic priorities, our IT Product team is looking for a highly talented Senior Systems Engineer. This will include the implementation of governance, controls, process and direction across tools and technology.

    The responsibilities include:

    • Developing strategies and policies with the Product Manager that will improve the ability of the operations team to provide a robust, high performing IT infrastructure to APRA.
    • Leading and participating in the planning and implementation of IT projects.
    • Ensuring all documentation is developed and maintained given that the role provides regular maintenance and support functions on peripherals and environmental components within a large geographical area,
    • Work closely with other teams to ensure the availability, robustness and functionality of the supported systems
    • Be part of the end to end lifecycle of pieces of work, working as part of a Product team (analysis, technical design, effort estimations, delivery, maintenance)
    • Contribute to the development of APRA's IT broader policy, standards and procedures to adhere to APRA's objectives.

    To be successful in this role you will have the experience with:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the latest software and hardware equipment and systems (Windows Server and Desktop operating systems, HP Hardware, Red Hat/Oracle Linux, and Cisco network).
    • Specific skills and exposure to: Windows Active Directory; Storage Management (SAN's); Microsoft Windows Server including Group Policies; Anti-Virus Tools; Exposure to Enterprise Monitoring Tools such as Microsoft System Centre solutions, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Solarwinds.
    • Exposure to the following preferred but not essential: Cisco Networking – Routers, Switches, Red Hat/Oracle Linux; Symantec Netbackup.
    • Powershell, VMware Horizon, Advanced Active Directory and DNS, SQL Server/SSAS/MDS, Firewall, Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, Fortinet Firewalls, IIS, VMware vCenter and ESX, Power BI Reporting server, Mulesoft, Network troubleshooting and wireshark, Advanced security (TLS/Certificates/Encryption), F5 load balancers
    • Knowledge of and experience with PC hardware and software products used in APRA, including the maintenance and service of such products (currently Intel-based / MS Office / Oracle & SQL databases).
    • Experience working in an Agile team – Kanban and Scrum frameworks
