Full-time (average of 38 hours per week)

  • A gross salary from $88,929 to $95,469 per annum (depending on skills and experience), access to a City vehicle
  • 11% superannuation with the option to cocontribute up to a further 5%

As part of the Parks Services Team, you are responsible for supervising internal work teams and external contractors, ensuring a proactive, high quality and cost effective horticultural maintenance service is delivered to the community.

Demonstrating sound leadership skills and ability to innovate, you will lead your team to meet performance targets and you will support ongoing improvement of the team, participating in employee performance and professional development reviews.


You will promote working within a safe environment and will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, including the review and development of Safe Work Method Statements, policies and procedures and contribute to reports for Council consideration.


Utilising your budgeting prowess to review the annual budget and prepare quantities and cost estimates for budget items and liaise with stakeholders regarding contract documentation, tenders and quotes.


You are a self-motivated go-getter who is able to provide expert advice and strategic direction to the organisation and are comfortable communicating across all levels of the organisation and the community it serves with a qualification in Horticulture and possess a current valid 'C' class driver's licence.


  • Extensive demonstrated experience in the supervising operational maintenance requirements of all environmental and public open space functions including in house field staff and contractors.
  • Extensive experience in horticultural management preferably in local government or in the area of commercial grounds maintenance, including knowledge of landscape construction principles and the ability to quality audit facilities for compliance and defects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation and implementation of cyclical maintenance schedules.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills, particularly verbal communication and intermediate level of computer literacy skills.
  • Qualification in horticulture or similar experience deemed equivalent.
  • Welldeveloped knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing annual budgets, contracts, service requests, multidisciplinary projects and procurement.
