About the Role:


We currently have a permanent full time position for a Funeral Planner to join our Salvos Funerals team based out of our Redfern, NSW office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to family, staff and clients within a funeral context
  • Demonstrates a nonjudgmental approach to all people
  • Facilitate spiritual and networking support to families, staff & clients of other faiths as the opportunity presents
  • Make arrangements for the burial or cremation ceremony
  • Confirm the verification of a Medical Certificate or obtain a Coroner's Certificate
  • Register the death and obtain a Death Certificate
  • Organise all notices of the death and funeral arrangements in the media
  • Complete all general administration work associated with Salvos Funerals
  • Coordinate the crew and supporting requirements on the day of funeral
  • Maintain, care and clean equipment/ items of capital
  • Assist with carrying and lowering coffins
  • Continue to develop and spread the work/ this initiative amongst the Australian public residents, staff, clients, family members and volunteers

About you:

  • An interest in helping people
  • Maturity and self confidence
  • Empathy, sensitivity and tact
  • Ability to work with those grieving and in distress
  • A drivers licence with a good driving record
  • Physical strength for manual handling
  • Ability to work according to fixed procedures and legal requirements
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and extended hours
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Good practical and organisational skills
  • An ability to put people at ease
