Our Organisation:

At Melbourne Water we love water and love life. What we do makes a vital contribution to Melbourne's famous lifestyle.

We achieve this by supplying high quality drinking water, providing outstanding sewerage services, integrating drainage systems, building resilience to flooding and by enhancing our waterway and land for greater community use.

At Melbourne Water we are in the 'Decade that Matters' and we've got some ambitious goals to achieve. It's a pride we share in helping to make greater Melbourne a fantastic place to live.

The Role:

The role is positioned in our operational teams within the Service Delivery portfolio which has oversight for operation and maintenance of Melbourne Water infrastructure.

Reporting to the Commercial Lead, this role is essentially a junior accountant role with transactional activities involving Commercial oriented tasks.

These include month end reconciliations, journal preparations, payments claims, financial management in order to ensure financial analysis reporting is correct and supporting the budget and forecast process.

This role also has a small degree of procurement tasks, which includes responsibilities in Contract Administration and supporting the Contract Managers to meet contractual and commercial obligations, in accordance with Melbourne Water's policies/procedures and then managing any extensions and variations appropriately.

This will involve administration, drafting letters and maintaining the risk register.

Your Skills and Experience:

It goes without saying, you will have strong transactional skills with a very high attention to detail. Your experience has led you to have sound commercial acumen and understand commercial drivers and accounting principles.

You will be extremely adept with using Accounting technology and will be able to come up to speed with TechOne or Maximo if you do not have experience with these.

You have an exceptional ability to be highly organised, prioritise and self-driven to meet key monthly deadlines.

Your stakeholders will mainly be our diverse internal teams and your stakeholder engagement skills have been developed so you can patiently and consistently engage, in order for you to achieve the outcomes required for you to deliver on your work.

The team requires a professional who can hit the ground running.

You bring a great deal of energy, initiative and passion for your work which has been demonstrated in your previous roles.

Your work style naturally lends itself to contributing to an inclusive and team-oriented workplace culture that is collaborative, professional and engaged.

You want to be a part of a high performing team that you have contributed to.

This role will suit a person who comes to work, rolls up their sleeves and is happy to respond to the work that comes in on their desk and adaptable to the team's needs.

We won't shy away from saying we need a hardworking, flexible Analyst who can roll with the ebb and flow of the workload and have volumes of emotional intelligence as you interact with your colleagues.

Given the workload that we are anticipating in 2023 we also expect our staff to self-manage their work/life balance and know how to pace themselves.

This position is a Parental Leave replacement until early February 2024, and has some flexible work options available, within reason.

The team currently works in the office 2 days a week, and from home 3 days a week.

Your office may vary from Brooklyn to Bangholme and other Melbourne Water sites, therefore you will need a Driver's Licence.

The base salary is EA5.1 which is $88, Superannuation.
