Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a HR Officer to join the Surface and Civil team in Perth.

Reporting to the People Business Partner, this role would suit an individual who is eager to learn and would like to start or progress their HR career.


With over 55 years of experience, Macmahon is a mining contractor with a unique capability of offering its clients surface, underground and mining support services.


The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations.


The role

  • Respond to routine employee and leader queries in relation to interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Schedule and conduct exit interviews
  • Compile and distribute regular HR reports
  • Assist the People Business Partners to implement HR initiatives and projects by completing HR activities and administration
  • Update Macmahon HR policies and procedures
  • Assist leaders to create position descriptions and manage the position description portal
  • Assist the People Business Partners to guide and support leaders to implement fair and effective people management practices
  • Assist the People Business Partners to write and implement performance management plans and disciplinary documentation
  • Assist the People Business Partners to conduct workplace investigations and manage complaints and reports in compliance with legislation, and in accordance with Macmahon policies and procedures
  • Assist leaders and employees with SuccessFactors and process queries
  • Drive probation and performance review participation
  • Gain exposure to remote mine site work with travel to projects
  • Conduct HR related training sessions
  • Working towards or currently holds a Certificate/Diploma or Degree in HR
  • Strong customer service and verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive with ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Objective with sound judgement and decisionmaking skills
  • Effective notetaking ability and Microsoft Office suite knowledge
  • Previous experience with SuccessFactors or a similar HR information system
