The role


The Investigator assists the Senior Investigator in conducting investigations following notification of incidents and complaints to assess and determine legislative breaches.

The Investigator undertakes investigations from complaints, notifications and incidents to achieve appropriate and proportionate outcomes for children under the scope of the Education and Early Childhood Services (Registration and Standards) Act 2011, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.


About you

  • You have experience in investigations that deal discreetly with confidential matters.
  • You are analytical with attention to detail.
  • You are experienced in preparing, reviewing and assessing briefs, reports and documentation for compliance action and/or court proceedings.

We are the independent statutory authority that regulates early childhood services and registers schools to improve education and care outcomes for children and young people.


Our main functions are:
- approving early childhood services
- assessing and rating early childhood services
- educating and monitoring compliance with the law
- taking regulatory action in the event of non-compliance
- registering schools
- reviewing the registration of schools.


The Education Standards Board is located in the CBD in modern office facilities close to public transport and Rundle Mall.

We employ approximately 40 staff.

Special conditions

  • Term vacancy two years from date of commencement
  • The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a Working with Children Check prior to being employed and regularly as required.
