Your Opportunity
As the Copyright and Licencing Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to and operationally manage policy and procedures relating to copyright compliance and intellectual property management within TAFE Queensland.
  • Provide copyright related advice to staff in TAFE Queensland regions and corporate office.
This position reports to the Library Network Manager.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Flexible working arrangements may be available.
Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the transformation of cultural change through promoting and modelling the TAFE Queensland values of Safety first, Working together, Focussing on our customers, Showing initiative and Taking responsibility.
  • Provide leadership to, and supervision of, the Copyright Services team by setting performance targets, allocating projects and tasks and assisting with recruitment in a multiregion environment, including APRA/AMCOS and PPCA.
  • Manage the Library's budget within the parameters of the TQ Library Network Business Plan, including an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE including financial and business performance and any impact from external factors.
  • Manage the adoption of a risk management approach towards leading and implementing a copyright service across TAFE Queensland which will involve administering the development of solutions to operationalise TAFE Queensland's Intellectual Property (IP) and Copyright compliance.
This includes Operational management of TAFE Queensland's Education Licence:
Statutory Text and Artistic Licence (Part VB) (also known as the Copyright Agency [CAL] Licence).

  • Manage the development and provision of training in copyright compliance as it applies to learning, teaching and professional practice, aimed at educating staff and students on copyright obligations.
  • Manage TAFE Queensland's participation in CAL Surveys and act as the central point of contact including planning for and overseeing all processes and requirements. This includes liaising with the Director of Legal Services to resolve complex legal matters.
  • With the Director of Legal Services, represent TAFE Queensland on the Copyright Advisory Group (CAG TAFE)
  • Liaise with the National Copyright Unit and copyright agencies, including the Australian Copyright Council, Screenrights Australia, Aboriginal Artists Agency Limited and music collecting societies to ensure the most current information on copyright issues is communicated to TAFE Queensland staff.
  • Participate in committees and working parties as required.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated in-depth and current knowledge of Australian Copyright and Intellectual Property legislation.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the management and development of copyright policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with and or knowledge of information systems that house copyright materials for the purposes of teaching and learning.
  • Possess welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills including confidential communication, written communication and client liaison skills.
  • Display the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (related to copyright, intellectual property, library/learning technology)
  • Demonstrated indepth, current knowledge of Australian Copyright and Intellectual Property legislation, including familiarity with the National Copyright Unit and CAL Surveys.
  • Experience in the provision of copyright advice.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in the provision of Copyright services in an Educational environment preferably VET sector or TAFE.
  • Experience with an Education systems support environment.
