**The company: The Thales Above Water Systems business offers ship repair, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. The business also offers the provision of docking, reticulated services and facility maintenance within Garden Island.


The role:

Opportunity for a Cost Analyst to join our team based at Garden Island Defence Precinct. The purpose of this position is to perform financial reporting, budgeting services, cost collection, financial analysis and cost estimation. This role involves analysing cost data, assessing project expenses, and providing insights to support informed decision-making.


Responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and analysing financial data, cost trends, and variances to identify areas of improvement and costsaving opportunities.
  • Preparing and presenting cost reports, forecasts, and budget analyses to stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop accurate cost estimates for projects, products, or services.
  • Analysing financial data, including revenue, expenses, and profitability, to assess the financial performance of projects or business units.
  • Identifying cost drivers and evaluating their impact on financial outcomes
  • Developing and implementing cost control measures, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient resource utilisation and minimize cost overruns.

How about you?

  • TAFE, Tertiary or Qualification in Business or Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Project planning and Controls and Project Management
  • Experience in various Cost Models, including Target Cost Incentive Model (TCIM)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the project management lifecycle
  • Financial / Budgetary control of control account & workpackages
  • Experience working in a Defence Sustainment environment
  • Knowledge Earned Value Management will be advantageous
  • Experienced in Primavera and Scheduling Tools
  • Experience of development project Engineering lifecycle is desirable
