About the role


We are seeking an experienced and self motivated Head Theatre Technician to join our theatre department and become part of our dynamic and supportive perioperative team.


The operating suite consists of 5 theatres covering most surgical specialities, including general, gynae/urology, plastics, ENT, paediatrics, vascular/endovascular, orthopaedics, dental and opthalmics.


We offer a supportive and challenging environment where our friendly team work closely to achieve best patient outcomes and high standards of care.

The theatres are staffed 5 days a week Monday - Friday from with on call opportunities. No night duty or weekend work.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributes to the development of a team environment which promotes partnership and cooperation. Recruiting and performance management.
  • Demonstrates positive role modelling behaviour
  • Ensure that safety is the highest priority in all decision making.
  • Works closely with the Nurse Managers to ensure Acorn Standards and hospital policies and protocols are monitored and maintained.
  • Assist nursing staff in the delivery of safe compassionate care.
  • Develop training plans for staff
About you

Bring your experience in leading and developing a team in the perioperative setting as a Theatre Technician.


You will have:

  • Certificate IV, Associate diploma, or equivalent skills and experience.
  • Capable of functioning autonomously, and prioritising your work and the work of others within established policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others, including work allocation, rostering and guidance
  • Comprehensive technological/IT knowledge.
  • Understanding of and the ability to set up / use medical equipment, to jump in and help out your team when needed.
You will also hold current- Working with Children Check- Police Record Check
